I understand that life is sometimes hard, extremely hard. We lose people, they hurt us, there are illnesses, tough choices, accidents, divorces, betrayals, redundancies, and other life changing events.
Sometimes, our own worst enemy is our self. We tell ourselves that we are not good enough, not capable, not loveable. We get frustrated, angry, depressed, anxious, and all wrapped up in a world that seems fake and hollow somehow. We allow others to bully us, walk all over us, and our dreams. Sometimes, we lose our direction and purpose, we become a shell of the person we thought we were. We can feel lost and alone, like a stranger in someone else's rat race where the people around you don't seem to care, listen or understand...but not all is lost!
Life doesn't come with a manual, the best we get are passed-down lessons from the people around us. These life-lessons come from an imperfect environment and they are told to us by imperfect people, most of whom are struggling with their own lives. Yes, we acquire some education along the way, but does this help us emotionally?
How can we find a better path?
How can we plant ourselves firmly in the world where we can learn to trust the decisions we make and silence our Critical Echoes?
Is it even possible to change life-long habits, thoughts, behaviours, and relationships?
The answer is, Yes!!
Struggling with life, relationships, thoughts, or feelings, can be hard to admit. It can be a very lonely place at times and you may worry about the stigma of being judged because of your situation. However, the best thing about therapy is that you find an ally, someone non-judgemental, someone who will be there to walk alongside you through the tough times, also someone who will celebrate with you as you begin to discover your new strengths. Having that time to invest in yourself and be supported can be life changing. Therapy helps shape the future you by developing the skills, knowledge, and enlightenment needed to take back control and live the life that you truly deserve.
